Amusan smashes Africa 100m hurdles record in Paris.

The new record holder, Amusan, would participate in the AFN Commonwealth in Birmingham UK and World Championship in Oregon USA in July Trials in Benin this weekend.

A new Africa and Commonwealth Record has been established by Nigeria’s 100m hurdler Tobi Amusan at the World Athletics Diamond League in Paris, there by erasing her old of 12:44 seconds record in a new Personal Best of 12.41s(-0.4) ahead of Charlton Devyenne who ran a Season’s Best of 12.63s and Sember Cindy in 12.73s.


Amusan had ran 12.44 seconds to break an African record Glory Alozie set in 1998 in the same event.
In a World Athletics Diamond League this evening in Paris. The Nigerian sprint hurdler was in her best form as she took off like a DC 10 aircraft to cross the finishing line in blistering record time of 12:41 secs.

Amusan would participate in the AFN Commonwealth in Birmingham UK and World Championship in Oregon USA in July Trials in Benin this weekend.


She would aspire to further improve the time returned in Paris on Saturday.

About Amusan 

Amusan was born on April 23, 1997 in Ijebu, Ogun State. 

She specialises in the 100 metres hurdles and sprinting. 

She was the 2018 Commonwealth and 2018 African champion in the event.

 She is also a two-time African Games champion. She won the Diamond League Trophy in Zurich in 2021 in the 100m hurdles.
