Amokachi wants FIFA to sanction Ghana for packing stadium

Former Super Eagles striker, Amokachi, stated that while Ghana breached FIFA rules, Nigeria compiled by putting only 30,000 tickets up for sale

Former Everton striker, Daniel Amokachi, known as ‘The Bull’ in his playing days, has asked the world soccer governing body,  FIFA to punish Ghana because the country breached its rules in the first leg of their 2022 World Cup playoff on Friday.

According to the commentator of the game, the 40,000 capacity Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi where the encounter took place was filled with almost 70,000 fans who watched the encounter.

Apart from accusing them of endangering the lives of fans, he also accused the country of ignoring the Covid-19 safety protocols, which is now a global standard.  

“I think FIFA has to take action against Ghana. Just for how unsafe it was out there.

“COVID-19 precautions were not followed,” Amokachi said while analysing the match on Super Sports. 

He went on to state that only 30,000 tickets were put up for sale by their  Nigerian counterparts for the reverse fixture in Abuja in compliance with safety standards. 

The second leg of the match which ended in a stalemate at the Baba Yara Stadium is billed for the MKO Stadium in Abuja in four days.
