,Human rights watchdog, Amnesty International has called for the arrest and prosecution of a Nigerian lawmaker, Elisha Abbo, who assaulted a lady in a sex toy shop in Abuja.
Abbo was seen in a video obtained by Premium Times slapping the unidentified lady multiple times in the presence of policemen who were called by him to arrest the lady.
Amnesty International said victims of Abbo’s violence must get justice.
Other Nigerians joined their voices in condemning Abbo’s action and called for his arrest and prosecution.
Notable Nigerians including singer Banky Wellington and other celebrities said the senator must be made to face justice.
Associate Professor of Journalism and Emerging Media at Kenne Saw State University, United States of America, Farooq Kperogi, asked the Nigerian senate to suspend Abbo over the assault.
Abbo is the youngest senator in Nigeria at 41. He represents Adamawa North Senatorial District.
Many have termed his action as barbaric and a slap on the Not Too Young to Run movement which championed for age reduction in Nigeria’s political landscape.
