Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Imama Amapakabo, has hailed Victor Ezeji on his planned testimonial match in December.
Amapakabo, also head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table toppers, Enugu Rangers, believes the success of Ezeji as a player in the Nigerian league is worthy of celebration.
The young and dynamic tactician, who captained Ezeji when he signed up as a rookie with Sharks FC at the start of his professional career, also believes Ezeji deserves to be named as an ambassador of the Nigerian Premier League.
His words: “It is wonderful. I am privileged to have played with Ezeji, captained him, and also coached him. He is one of the best players to have come out of this country. I think he should be honored with being an LMC ambassador.
“He has done so much for the league, he has won everything in sight. Highest goal scorer, the league title, Federation Cup, and all.
Amapakabo, a strong believer in the NPFL, also urged football fans to support Ezeji’s testimonial.
“Kudos to him. It is about time we lifted up our own. Kudos to Ezeji, I duff my hat for him.
Amapakabo was team captain when Ezeji signed up for the now defunct Sharks in 1996 and was a coach at Sharks when Ezeji returned for his third stint at the club between 2008 and 2012.
Ezeji began his top flight career in 1996 and went on to play in 20 seasons, halted only for a brief spell when he tried played in Tunisia.
He scored at least a goal in every of the 20 seasons he played.
