Alexx Ekubo urges govt to rename Lekki Tollgate, make it free

Nollywood Actor, Alexx Ekubo has asked the Nigerian government to change the name of Lekki Tollgate to ‘Lekki Memorial Way’ to honour those who lost them during the #EndSARs protest.   

Ekubo made the demand via his verified Instagram page on Thursday, October 20, after police dispersed celebs and other youths who gathered at the Tollgate to mark the second anniversary of the movement.

According to the thespian, the name of the Tollgate should be changed and it should henceforth be toll-free because Nigerians lost their lives during the protest. 

He wrote: “Dear Nigerian Government, we will NEVER forget this day. 20 – 10 – 20. We will return the favour. The Labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain.

“I still maintain, Lekki Toll plaza should be renamed Lekki Memorial Way & remain toll-free forever. We paid in full with our blood.”

On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the nation was thrown into a sober mood following allegations of the shooting of protesters, who had gathered at the Lekki Tollgate to protest against police brutality by the Nigerian Army.
