The Standard Chartered Trophy is an annual 5-aside football tournament sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank to foster good relations amongst its staff, customers and associates. This season, qualifying tournaments took place across 14 markets globally with over 1,200 teams participating before the finalists emerged.

The 14 finalists will be opportune to watch Liverpool’s last game of the season against Newcastle on Sunday, May 11th before taking to the hallowed Anfield pitch themselves to compete for the Standard Chartered Trophy two days later on May 13th. They will also enjoy a professional training session with Liverpool legends and Academy coaches as well as a tour of the stadium.

“We had a great experience last year and we expect this year to be even better,” said Alao who coincidentally is a Liverpool fan. “Nigeria didn’t reach the knock-out phase last year, but we learned some useful lessons. Our target this time is to win trophy,” he assured.

Other members of the Nigerian contingent are Toochukwu Greg-Chido Amajuoyi, Opeyemi Dairo, Taofeek Edid, Oluwapelumi Joseph, Ademola Omitayo and Abdulraheem Lawani all of BAT FC and Amrit Ratnani of AMRIT FC. Adedayo Aderogba and Oloyede Fagbemi of Standard Chartered Bank are the team’s chaperons.

Standard Chartered Bank are official sponsors of Liverpool Football Club and recently extended their partnership with the club up to the 2015/2016 football season.
