The Akwa Ibom State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has directed it members in the state to boycott the planned press briefing by a former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, for attacking a journalist, Mr Charles Eyo during a press briefing in Calabar, Cross River State.
It would be recalled that the self-styled human rights advocate had attacked Eyo who is a Daily Trust correspondent during a media chat with journalists.
The former minister called the journalist whose offend was that he asked him who was “bankrolling” his trips to politicians houses and Government Houses across the country.
In a communique signed by the State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Amos Etuk, and Secretary, Comrade Dominic Akpan, the union directed members to shun the planned press briefing as a show of solidarity to their colleague, who was referred to as “stupid” during the briefing.
The union directed all chapels in the State Council not to have anything to do with the former minister who is in the state as part of his visit to different parts of the country.
