Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has said that his administration has in the last one year been able to construct about 200 kilometers of roads and 15 bridges across the state.
Emmanuel in his 2016 Democracy Anniversary broadcast, yesterday, listed the road networks to include, 6.6km internal roads in Oron with outfall drains, Information Drive at Atan Offot in Uyo and Onna-Etinan-Uyo Road among others.
According to him, “By the stride, communities that were once cut off in the state have been opened up. We have intervened in a number of places ravaged by gully erosion. Calabar-Itu Road and St Luke’s Hospital Anua are prime examples and we hope to do the same in many other communities of the state.
He expressed his determination to continue to live up to the people’s expectation by fulfilling his campaign promises despite the current economic realities on ground.
“Though our national economy is experiencing challenges, our dreams are in expansion. There may be famine in the land, but right in this land, because we are dreamers, we are planting seeds and like Isaac, we will reap a hundred fold,” he said.
