A Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Niger Delta Affairs, Lubi Akpoebi Ebielatei, has resigned his appointment with the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration for what he termed ‘safeguarding my political future.’
Lubi, a former lawmaker from Ese-Odo State Constituency and former Caretaker Chairman of Ese-Odo council, both on the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said that the move was to safeguard his political career which is almost going into oblivion under the APC government in the state.
He is the first to resign from the administration of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration, saying that the ruling APC in the state lacked internal democracy and popular participation.
According to him, his rising political career is seriously under threat, hence, he has to retrace his steps and readjust to follow the political trend both in the state and at the federal levels.
His words: “My brother, my greatest joy is that I was able to retrace my steps and come out of the political bondage the deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi and his cohorts from Ese-Odo put me for almost two years. If not for God and my steadfastness with masses from Ese-Odo, I would have been imprisoned for life.
“I thank God and my people from Ese-Odo for regaining my political freedom and freed me from the oppression and persecution of the deputy governor and his political godsons,” he said.
The former lawmaker however thanked Governor Akeredolu for the opportunity given him to serve the people, stressing that he remains a good fan of the governor.
He promised to carry his people along on his next political move, which he affirmed, would be in conformity with the yearning and aspiration of the people of Ese-Odo council .
His resignation letter dated November 11, 2018 and addressed to Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, reads: “I hereby with all sense of highest regards wish to resign my appointment as Special Assistant to the Governor on Niger-Delta.
“Let me use this medium to also thank Mr. Governor for the opportunity offered me to serve in the aforementioned.
“Once again, thank you Mr. Governor as you accept the assurances of my highest consideration.”
