Aisha Buhari is not pregnant, her media aide has said. He also denied a report that she might be sick, the reason for the bloated stomach.
According to the media aide, Sulaiman Haruna, the pictures of the first lady that surfaced online showing her with protruded stomach, could have been manipulated.
On Monday, December 20, social media went into a frenzy over speculations that Aisha Buhari might be expecting another baby after photos of her showed her with a protruded stomach while returning to the country with her husband from Turkey.
But in an interview with the BBC Pidgin, Haruna denied the claims about the first lady being pregnant or sick.

He says: “I can assure you 100 per cent that our first lady is perfectly okay. She is neither sick nor pregnant as some reports claim. Some of these reports are from mischief-makers who don’t mean well. You know, nowadays, people can tamper with photos.”
TheNiche had reported that Nigerians were already wondering if among President Muhammadu Buhari’s legacies when leaving office in 2023, would be a child born for him in Aso Villa, a feat no president has achieved since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999.
The report says if the protruded stomach of Aisha Buhari as observed in her photograph with the president, turns out to be pregnancy, Buhari may break the record by being the president who fathered a child in addition to his presidential role. Her stomach looks big, an indication that she may be pregnant with a child. And the size of her stomach also gives rise to speculation that the pregnancy may be more than three months old.
But another news website speculated that the protruded stomach might be an undisclosed ailment.
Her aide has now clarified that she is neither pregnant nor sick.
