Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has told supporters to direct the question on who plays or not to his coach, Austin Eguavoen, as he insists the team is more focused on winning the competition.

The pacy-winger has featured sparingly in the tournament so far and has only made a substitute appearance for Nigeria in the 3-1 win against Sudan.

After defeating the Pharaohs of Egypt and the Falcons of Sudan in their first two games, Nigeria qualified for the last 16 stages and topped Group D with a game to spare.

Super Eagles coach Eguavoen is therefore expected to give minutes to some fringe players against Guinea Bissau this evening since the team has already qualified.

Musa, while talking to reporters on Tuesday ahead of today’s match, said the coach decides who plays in a match and those who are going to come in from the bench.

He also urged Nigerians to pray for the team to lift the trophy, while also ensuring fans that whoever the coach picks will make the nation proud.

He said “I am not the coach. Anyone that he chooses to play will give all his best. Whenever I come in I always give what I know how to do.

“Nigerians should keep praying for us and by the grace of God we will make them happy, we know the importance of winning the tournament and we are doing all our best to make that promise fulfilled for them.”
