Ahiara Diocese: Bishop Ugorji to ordain 15 new priests May 4

Bishop Ugorji

The Catholic Diocese of Ahiara-Mbaise is back on full pastoral activities and is set to mark another milestone with the ordination of another 15 priests.

This is as the Apostolic Administrator of the diocese, Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji has slated Saturday, May 4t, 2019 for the ordination of the new priests.

Information obtained from the office of the Vicar-General of the diocese, Rev. Fr. Ethelbert Uwadoka, indicates that the ordination ceremony scheduled to start at 10 am will hold at the Mater Ecclesiae Cathederal, Ahiara Mbaise.

This is coming on the hills of Saturday February 9, 2019’s ordination of 10 priests, the first after a 7-year lull. The May 4 ordination when actualised will bring the number of ordained priests in the diocese within three months to 25.

There has been growing excitement in the diocese since Saturday, March 10, 2018, when Most Rev. Ugorji attended the first holy mass to be celebrated at the cathedral in the years the Diocese’s Bishopric crisis lingered.

Since then, ceremonies and other major activities such as ordination of priests and others in the religious vocations; confirmation of church members; blessing of oil for the administration of sacraments; renewal of vows by priests and others in religious vocations, which could not hold as the crisis lingered have fully resumed.
