Pundit and former Aston Villa striker, Gabriel Agbonlahor, has insisted that Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale is not a world-class goalkeeper.

Agbonlahor also argued that Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, who left the Emirates Stadium in 2020, before the Gunners signed Ramsdale from Sheffield United, is a better shot-stopper.

Ramsdale and Martinez have both been impressive for their respective clubs in the Premier League this season.

While the Arsenal keeper has kept 13 clean sheets this season, his Aston Villa counterpart has managed 11 clean sheets too.

Agbonlahor, while analysing the two goalkeepers on talkSPORT recently said: “I don’t think he [Aaron Ramsdale] is world-class. No, he is not world-class.

“Yesterday, I was talking to someone about Martinez, [there has] been talk that all the big clubs want Aston Villa’s goalkeeper.

“I’m saying, ‘you can’t let him go, Aston Villa!’. Because every club that is doing well in world football has got a top goalkeeper and he is top. Martinez is better than Ramsdale for me.”

Martinez left the Emirates Stadium in 2020 after he was replaced with Bernard Leno, despite putting up spectacular performances while he deputized for the German.

Leno was eventually sold to London club, Fulham, after he was displaced by Ramsdale
