After spending 179 days in detention, journalist and publisher of Cross River Watch, Agba Jalingo, has today met his bail condition and left the Calabar prison.

Jalingo, was granted bail on Thursday February 13 by Justice Sule Shuaibu of the Federal High Court, Calabar.

The Judge granted the journalist N10 million bail, after another Judge of the Federal High Court Calabar, Simon Amobeda, had earlier denied him bail twice.

Justice Shuaibu took over the case after Jalingo’s lawyers protested against the handling of the case by Amobeda.

In granting the bail, Justice Shuaibu asked that those standing as surety for the journalist must make a refundable deposit of N700,000 to court registry to perfect the bail.

On February 17, Jalingo posted a picture of him leaving the Calabar prison without handcuffs.

He has been facing charges bordering on terrorism and cultism after he accused the governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, of allegedly diverting N500 million belonging to the Cross River State Micro Finance Bank.
