The Disciplinary Committee set up by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State has again summoned the Former Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial district and the Chairman of the Governor Council of the Petroleum University,Warri, Senator Nimi Bariagh-Amanage and Nine others to appear before it over alleged petition bothering on anti-Party activity in the State.
Also summoned by the PDP were the Former Speaker of the State House of Assembly and Former Acting Governor,Hon. Nestor Binabo, Former Special Adviser on Political Affairs during Governor D.S.P Alameiseigha administration, Hon.Dimaro Deinyanbofa, Hon. Joyce Fuoyowei, Ex-Officio member of the State PDP, Hon. Alagoa Dudafa Diepriye, Inaton Okolo ,Benjamin Jonathan, Apostle Otufu ,Cyril Suodomowei, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-Indigene matters,Chinedu Mba and Hanson Alabo.
In the Statement issued by the Disciplinary Committee yesterday in Yenagoa and signed by the Chairman,Hon.Cleopas Moses and Secetary,Barr. Dede Ofulu John,the summoned Party leaders are expected to appear at the State Secretariat to answer cases of alleged anti-Party activities.
The Chairman of the Party Disciplinary Committee, Hon. Cleaopas Moses said though the committee received hundreds of petitions and complaints on the performance of those summoned during the last Presidential,National and State Assembly elections,”the committee was not set up to witch hunt anyone.The committee was set up to instil discipline and ensure decorum,especially against those party members under elective and appointive positions,facilitated under auspices of the Party,who nevertheless,chose to sabotage the party and it’s sponsored candidates in the past National and State Assembly elections.”
“Depending on the value and weight of evidence available,the committee would in tandem with provisions of the PDP constitution (as amended),the evidence Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,hear,evaluate evidence and met out appropriate measures,sanctions and if appropriate,absolve,exonerate and proffer recommendations as would conduct with the outlook of each case.”
