Again, gunmen set another Imo police station on fire, freed detainees

Rampaging gunmen have set another police station on fire in Imo less than 24 hours after raising down the state’s police headquarters and destroying the Nigerian Correctional Service facility where they freed almost 2,000 prisoners.

According to Punch Newspaper, the gunmen attacked the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area Divisional Police Headquarters in Imo State few hours after the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, the just sacked Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and other government functionaries visited the state to inspect the level of damage on the attacked security facilities.

A source quoted by the newspaper said:“Gunmen this evening razed Ehime Mbano LGA police divisional headquarters. On arrival, the gunmen freed the suspects before wrecking the havoc.”

The police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, however declined to confirm nor refute the story.
