AFN Olympic Trials: Edo Sports Commission assures of readiness

Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Yusuf Alli and host of the National Olympic Trials has declared his readiness to welcome Athletes and others attending the epoch making Championships in Benin City.
Alli in recent interview said Edo state is waiting to welcome gallant Athletes who had strived to earn their qualifications to the Paris Olympics.
According to him, the AthIetes deserve appreciation for their well deserved performance at competition abroad.
“We are host of the national Trials and Athletes, spectators are welcome,” he said.
He insisted that the Nigerian Trials used to be a carnival of some sort in the past where all AthIetes, spectators are entertained and treated with dignity matched with fanfare and Edo State would try to replicate it this time.
The Trials which holds on June 16-18, 2024 inside the main bowl of Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium promises to throw up the best of Nigeria’s AthIetes based at home and abroad for the Olympics Games in Paris in July.
Meanwhile, the AthIetics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has planned to also give Nigeria’s AthIetes based abroad a rousing welcome to Benin, venue of the Olympic Trials.
AFN boss, Chief Tonobok Okowa said, “the AthIetes have shown commitment, determination and desire to succeed in their career by picking Olympic qualifications. They deserve our collective appreciation.”
On the impending Olympic Trials, Okowa said, “The AthIetes would be picked in accordance to their performance at the Trials because it would largely determine who goes to Paris for the Olympics.”
