Afenifere supports hunger protest, says Tinubu refuses to restructure economy

Afenifere from Bola Tinubu’s backyard in the South West says he is superficial and failing Nigerians with poor performance as President – a post the man boasted he staked several years before he could snatch, grab, and run with.

Afenifere Publicity Secretary Justice Faloye said Tinubu’s superficiality shows in the way he removed fuel subsidy without planning for the fallout and in his refusal to restructure the economy to benefit all citizens.

Faloye expressed the support of Afenifere for the mass nationwide protest youths are planning to commence on August 1, saying the youths raise important issues that need be addressed by the government.

“When he [Tinubu] said subsidies were dead, we said there is nowhere in the world that you won’t have this kind of situation, it’s not protesters that are endangering the polity, but it’s the government’s policies. Anywhere in the world, you can’t remove subsidies like that,” Faloye argued on Arise TV on Thursday.

“We do believe that the presidency is failing the people, he [Tinubu] is being superficial, he should restructure the economy. What we have is a colonial economy because the majority are just trading.”

Faloye also spoke on the ongoing demarketing that Tinubu’s agents in government are doing to the Dangote Refinery.

“On the issue of Dangote, the government needs to be more nationalistic. We have wished for such a refinery for so long; so, it’s so depressing that the NMDPRA [Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Authority] comes out to denigrate our products.

“What we need is for the government to support this business, government should back people when they invest and not throw hurdles in the way.”
