Adeyemi leads Black Heritage Artists to exhibition at Nike Gallery

Kunle Adeyemi, who holds the first Ph.D in studio research in Nigeria led 19 artists to an exhibition titled: ‘Our United Heritage’. The teacher, painter, printmaker and graphic designer, and his counterparts in the collective called Black Heritage Artists held the exhibition at the Nike Art Gallery in Lekki, Lagos State.

Among those whose works were at the exhibition, which is a study in all media, were: Aimufia Osagie, Dotun Alabi, Bimbo Adenugba, Folami Rasaq, John Onobrakpeya, Kelani Abass, Sola Olumyiwa, Harriet Ekueme, Akinwolere Muyiwa and Ighodalo George. Others were: Uchenna Umeh, Oni Stephen, Akintunde Gbenga, Adelanke Adeoye, Gobolade Omidiran, Dhlimi Munza, Idowu Abiola, Akin Onipede and Ike Francis.

 

Osagie told TheNiche that the artists came together after they took part in a Black Heritage Festival competition they took part in a few years ago and have continued to exhibit as a group ever since. He said that this was the third exhibition in the series and that they all hoped to hold more exhibitions in the nearest future.

 

The show opened on September 27.
