Ahead of the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti State, political activist, Deju Adeyanju, has faulted the travel of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi to Egypt.
Obi, today left Nigeria for a three-day visit to Egypt to study the Egyptian power sector, education, planning and finance sectors since they are the major areas Nigeria has failed woefully.
Obi, who shared photos of himself at the airport on his Twitter page, said he is embarking on the trip as part of his determination to do a detailed study of comparable countries to Nigeria.

“I just departed for Egypt on a 3-day visit as part of my detailed study of comparable countries to Nigeria. In Egypt, I am expected to understudy, among others, the Egyptian Power Sector, Education, Planning and Finance Sectors. -PO,” Obi tweeted.
But Adeyanju said the travel was misplaced.
In a tweet, he said: “Peter Obi should be going to Ekiti, not Egypt. Election is happening on Saturday in Ekiti, Obi says he’s going to Egypt to understudy their system. Labour Party has a Guber candidate in Ekiti. This was how Moghalu was all over social media but someone called Dumebi defeated him,” he said.
Another critic of Obi, Yele Sowore, who also is a presidential candidate of the Africa Action Alliance (AAC), said the Egypt travel shows a lack of preparation.
He said: “Heard @PeterObi traveled to Egypt to learn how to fix Education/Power problems, this is exactly the problem with unprepared candidates. It is 9 months to election & a two-term gov. & former VP candidate want to go learn something from Egypt in 3 days? Wow! #WeCantContinueLikeThis.”
