Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, says it is not true that she has shared with others for personal use N10 billion meant for the payment of contractors, describing the story as “a smear campaign.”
She dismissed as mischievous and false the story published online by Premium Times “which negates the ethics and professionalism of journalism” a worrying lack of understanding of Appropriation, Payments and Control.”
A statement Adeosun issued through her Media Adviser, Oluyinka Akintunde, explained that warrants are issued in accordance with Appropriation and after due approval by the Cash Plan Committee chaired by the minister.
“Attempts to link her to this factually defective and incorrect report by Premium Times are highly regrettable.
“There is absolutely no truth in the report of the minister being involved in any fraudulent scandal as alleged by the mischievous online medium,” the statement said.
