The Deputy Governor, who retired as a Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, was nominated by the state Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on January 24.

His nomination came barely six hours after the state governor dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC).

Most political watchers believe
Aiyedatiwa picked Adelami, who hails from Owo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, as his deputy to compensate his late principal and former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu who was also from Owo.
