Adeboye says his earlier comment on fire for fire against terrorists killing Christians in Nigeria was not a directive to acquire guns for self-defence

Fire for Fire is not a call to acquire weapons, says the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who denied that he directed Christians across the country to buy arms to defend themselves.

Adeboye clarified that his earlier comment on fire for fire against terrorists killing Christians in Nigeria was not a directive to acquire guns for self-defence.

He said, “I never asked Christians to go and buy guns. We don’t need guns. We don’t want to kill anyone. Samson fought with the jawbone of an ass.

“Don’t go and buy guns. They won’t give you permission, anyway. But you don’t need permission to buy the jawbone of a cow,” the man of God declared on Sunday.

Recall that Adeboye on Saturday morning during the July Holy Ghost Service declared that it was “fire for fire” against terrorists killing Christians in Nigeria, which a section of the media interpreted to mean acquiring guns for self defence.
