Adebanjo warns Tinubu will fail if he merely gives “marching orders”

Bola Tinubu giving “marching orders” to service chiefs and the security agencies to tackle insecurity on the Plateau and other parts of the country is the wrong way to defeat terrorists, Afenifere leader Ayo Adebanjo has warned the President.
He said it would be futile for Tinubu for to treat security challenges the way former President Muhammadu Buhari always did by giving “marching orders to security agencies” while insecurity persisted throughout his years in the Villa.
Adebanjo gave the counsel in Jos when he paid a condolence visit to the residence of former Plateau Governor and first Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Solomon Lar over the Christmas Eve attacks in the state that claimed about 200 lives.
“When Buhari was in office, we said he was behind those killing Nigerians. We told him that those killing us were in his government, House Representatives and the Senate.
“When [the killings] happened, he would say he had given marching orders. We wanted action and not marching orders. In the end, nothing happened. No arrest even after our complaints,” Adebanjo lamented.
“Now, we have another President. And we are faced with the same security challenge. We want action from President Tinubu and not marching orders.
“Anybody who wants to impress Nigerians must go after those behind the killings. They must be arrested and prosecuted if he wants the problem to be solved.”
Adebanjo consoled the people of Plateau who lost loved ones during the attacks, recounting how Lar stood for peace and justice when he was alive. He appealed to the people to be strong and not give in to the antics of the invaders.

If there is no justice, there can be no peace, says Lar’s widow
Lar’s widow, Mary, a professor, thanked Adebanjo for the visit, saying it would help strengthen Plateau residents in their challenging times, per The PUNCH.
She recalled how she and her late husband were always at the residence of Obafemi Awolowo and expressed joy Adebanjo has not forgotten the friendship with her husband despite the years gone by.
Her words: “Your coming has strengthened us. We were always at baba Awolowo’s place when we were newly married.
“Thank God for that unity between our dady (Solomon Lar) who was your friend. We thank you as well for the unity you have continued to build between South South, South West, the Middle Belt and other parts of the country.
“If there is no justice, there can be no peace and unity. We appreciate the role of the elders who travelled miles to Jos. God will honour you. The younger ones will learn from the old ones and the younger ones will spread the gospel.
“My husband lived for peace and unity in the country. It is that good name that we are surviving on today, not plenty of houses or wealth.
“We must stop pursuing wealth and embrace a good name for the good of our country.”
