Two first-class monarchs in Adamawa State, HRH Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda II, Kwandi Nunguraya and HRM Biyapo Bwaltam Bently Mboiman II, Murum Mbula, have commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) for their activities aimed at curbing the menace of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the country.

They also called for enhanced partnership between the traditional institution and the agency.

The monarchs spoke when they paid a courtesy visit to the chairman/chief executive officer of the NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Marwa (retd), at its national headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

They said traditional institution as a respected system in the society must play active and important role in the agency’s fight against drug scourge especially at the grassroots level where they play influential roles in communities under their control.

The monarchs commended the drug supply and drug demand reduction efforts of the agency especially the NDLEA Command in Adamawa, which they support in various ways.

In his response, Marwa expressed appreciation to the royal fathers for their visit to support the work of the agency and seek further collaboration.

“As respected traditional rulers in your domains, we encourage you to continue to partner with our Commands around you to engage in advocacy and sensitization of your subjects on the dangers of abusing and dealing in illicit substances. We have to work together as a collective to take this message to the communities and every nook and cranny of Nigeria,” Marwa stated.

He commended them for taking the bold step to identify with and support the work of the agency.
