A senior member of Inner Bar of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and the foremost Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, has passed away.
He died on Sunday January 24, 2021.
Until his death, Abdullahi Ibrahim (SAN), who hailed from Okaba of Ankpa Local Government Area of of Kogi State, is commonly revered as the first Senior Advocate of Nigeria; of northern extraction. The cause of his death has not been disclosed by the family as at the time of this report.
The late Senior Advocate served the nation in various capacities before his demise.
He served during the military regime of Muhammadu Buhari in the 1980s as Nigeria Minister of Transportation.
He was also the Attorney General and Minister of Justice under the regimes of Sani Abacha and Abdulsalam Abubakar, respectively.
TheNiche gathered that he was called to the English Bar in 1963 and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar Association in 1964.
In 1982, he was conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He would be buried in his hometown of Okaba in Ankpa LGA according to Islamic rites.
