Human Rights Activist and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council for Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Dr Tunji Abayomi has called on Prominent Yoruba leaders and Traditional rulers to intervene in the rift between Asuwaju Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Aregbesola who had been accused of projecting Tinubu as next to God in the past, came full circle recently to pour cold water on his one-time mentor and political leader.
The crux of the rift between the two men is that Aregbesola is backing Moshood Adeoti while Tinubu is backing the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola for the Osun State Governorship primary election of All Progressives Congress (APC) which held on Saturday, February 19.

Tunji Abayomi who made the plea on his Facebook wall appealed that efforts must be made to aoid expanding the war of words to action.
According to Abayomi, it is certainly not the first time such conflict will occur saying that they are both Yoruba eminent children.
“Now to the Yoruba people, we must revert to our culture and tradition. The Yoruba ontology pays much attention to relationships.
“Consequently, instead of expanding the unnecessary but NOT unusual conflict between the two brothers that is Rauf Aregbesola and Bola Tinubu, let us find ways, first, to limit or contain the conflict, then second, to solve or resolve the conflict,” Abayomi added.
The Guardian recently reported that some Yoruba leaders, including traditional rulers, yesterday, began a move to resolve the conflict between the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and former governor of Osun State and Minister for Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.
The report says beyond the fear of the damage that Tinubu and Aregbesola could do to each other’s political career, the monarchs are of the belief that the fight will set a very bad precedent for the younger generations.
