Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday, paid glowing tribute to his late boss, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who passed on May 5, 2010, exactly six years ago.
Jonathan who took to his Facebook page to eulogise Yar’adua, described him as a servant leader and a stickler for the rule of law. Ex-President Jonathan lamented that he had lost a dear friend and partner in democracy, peace and progress, six years ago. He said: “Six years ago, I lost a dear friend and partner in democracy, peace and progress. President Umaru Musa Yar’adua was a servant leader and a stickler for the rule of law. “He may be gone but he is never to be forgotten. I pray for his soul and for him to rest in al Jannah firdaus.” Umaru Musa Yar’Adua born August 16, 1951 died on May 5, 2010. He was the 13th President of Nigeria. He served as governor of Katsina State from May 29, 1999 to May 28, 2007. He was declared winner of the presidential election held on April 21, 2007, and was sworn in on May 29, 2007. He was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In 2009, Yar’Adua left for Saudi Arabia to receive treatment for pericarditis. He returned to Nigeria on May 2, 2010, where he died on the May 5, 2010.
