The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Benue South Senatorial re-run election Daniel Onjeh has filed another petition against the victory of Senator David Mark at the poll.
Onjeh said on Sunday after filing his petition at a Magistrate Court that he was seeking outright declaration in his favour, as documents obtained from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicated that he won in most of the polling units where at least 29,000 votes were cancelled.
In his reaction, the spokesman for the former Senate president Adakole Elaijah, said that his legal team was waiting to be served copies of the petition.
Elaijah also vowed that no effort would be spared to defend the mandate freely given to the Federal lawmaker by the Idoma race.
INEC declared Senator David Mark, candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of the Benue South Senatorial re-run election with 84,192 votes, beating Daniel Onjeh of APC with 71,621 votes.
Declaring the result, Mr Ishaq Eneji, the Returning Officer, said that Senator Mark met all the requirements during the conduct of the poll, having polled the majority of the total votes cast.
