How explosion rocked CBN Calabar office

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Friday confirmed that there was an explosion in its office in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

It also explained that the explosion was caused by gas at the part of the premises under re-construction.

The CBN Director of Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, confirming the fire, that no death was recorded from the incident, and that the resultant fire had been put out.

“There is a gas explosion from the construction area of our premises there. There is no fatality yet. A few persons who were injured have been taken to the hospital. The Fire service personnel responded promptly and they have been able to put out the fire,” he said.

The explosion occurred when a cylinder being used by welders at the site caught fire.
