The 2016 Edition of Leadership Summit which will, this time around, focus on the imperatives of industrialisation in states, is set to commence Thursday, February 24, 2016, the event organisers confirmed.
The two-day summit will be attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as well as at least nine state governors who have confirmed their participation.
The Summit, with the theme, “Industrialisation and States,” is expected to address key economic problems confronting the Nigerian nation, especially in the face of dwindling oil revenue.
Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole will chair one of the sessions at the Musa Yar’adua Centre venue in Abuja.
Other governors who have confirmed their attendance are Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Muhammed Abubakar of Bauchi State, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Abdullahi Ahmed of Kwara State and Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, among other governors.
Participants are expected to brainstorm on issues of “Developing, Harnessing and Sustaining Industrialisation Drive of State Governments in Nigeria towards Ensuring Rapid Economic development”.
According to the organizers of the Summit, its theme was carefully chosen in line with the prevailing economic challenges facing the country.
The aim of the Summit is to buttress the stand of “governments, at all levels, that oil resources alone have become grossly inadequate if the nation must grow in a manner that will meet the aspirations of the people.
