The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun Saturday said the Change administration is committed to bringing rapid development and urged the people of Benue South Senatorial District to vote massively for Comrade Daniel Onjeh in the forthcoming rerun election.
Oyegun stated this at Otukpo, Benue State, during the official flag- off of the Onjeh Senatorial Campaign Organisation and defection of some PDP stakeholders and supporters to APC.
According to Oyegun, the time has come for the people to desist from opposition politics and support the governing APC to deliver development to the generality of the people. He said the change mantra has come to enhance unity and urged the people to vote Onjeh to succeed David Mark.
At the ceremony, two former ministers, Jerry Agada and Sam Ode, ex-Senate president Ameh Obute and the immediate past deputy governor of Benue State, Chief Steven Lawani, as well as the PDP senatorial candidate in the last general election, Mike Onoja defected to the governing APC.
Other PDP chieftains who defected included Emmanuel Attah John Enyi, Agada Igomu, Bartholomew Oche, Joseph Ode, Baba Odangla and several youths and women.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Senator Obute said they dumped PDP in order to say no to corruption, non-development of the Benue Zone C Senatorial District, non-payment of salaries and general underdevelopment of the Idoma nation.
Also, a group of prominent Idoma citizens under the umbrella of Concerned Idoma Citizens Saturday called on former Senate President David Mark to back out from the race, its Chairman Paulinus Okwori has said In a statement.
But David Mark had boasted that if the rerun election is conducted a hundred times, he will win all.
Addressing the rally In Otukpo, Governor Samuel Ortom said development of a people can only be achieved through sincerity of purpose and the fear of God.
