The #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group has expressed worry over lack of accurate information about the abducted 219 Chibok schoolgirls even after so many women and girls have been rescued by the military in recent times.
Speaking during the normal sit-out of the group Wednesday, one of the members, Waziri Bello wondered how after so many successes recorded by the military in the fight against the insurgency, there was no news about the abducted girls.
“The military has recorded many successes. I am scared that no news has come out about the Chibok girls. Even if it is one or two; I am wondering how come, none has come out, none has surfaced? It is rather unfortunate,” he said.
Also speaking, the chairman of Chibok community, Tsambido Hosea-Abana said that of all the women and girls that were rescued by the military, none of the Chibok girls was among those that were rescued or none has escaped apart from the 57 that escaped on their own earlier.
“Among the women and girls rescued by the military, none of the Chibok girls has been rescued. All of the people are from Chibok local government area. Some of their parents are not from Chibok but are working in Chibok. If anyone of them has been rescued, we will hear about it. Nothing has happened,” he said.
The group also kicked against a statement on Ray Power FM, Political Platform, which claimed that the group has stopped advocating for the Chibok girls and called on the presenters to do thorough research before speaking on such issue.
A member of the group, Seun Daniel called on the presenters to check LEADERSHIP newspapers, which covers the daily event of BBOG and also their sister station, African Independent Television (AIT), which also comes to cover the event of the group sometimes.
The group reiterated that it will continue to be the voice for the Chibok girls and urged the people who thought it has stopped its advocacy to pick up Page 2 of LEADERSHIP newspapers to keep abreast of its activities.
