205 days: Thieves raid Leah Sharibu’s family house

Leah Sharibu

Thieves on Monday looted the home of the parents of Leah Sharibu in Dapchi, Yobe State.

The incident occurred just as concerned Nigerians noted that today is the 205th day that Leah is spending in captivity.

It was learnt that Mrs. Rebecca Sharibu took her son to school, but on her return she discovered the break in. The thieves made away with food items and a generator.

Leah and 109 other girls on February 19 were abducted by Boko Haram members from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.

The Sharibus had earlier complained that since Leah’s abduction no government official had reached out to them concerning their daughter.

Speaking after hearing her daughter’s voice in a video, Rebecca said that she thanked God that Leah was still alive.

She said: “We confirm that she is among the living and our prayer is working.”

Rebecca pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to do everything within his power to rescue her daughter.

Leah’s father, Nathaniel Sharibu, said he was happy that Leah was in good health. This was even as he joined his wife in begging that their daughter be rescued.

He disclosed that since Leah’s abduction, he had been going from different media houses to another and different religious bodies.
