2019: Atiku group makes case for Diaspora Nigerians

Atiku

Atiku for 2019 USA Diaspora  has frowned against the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari not to allow Nigerians in the Diaspora to participate in 2019 general elections.

The South East Zonal Cordinator,  Atiku for 2019 USA Diaspora, Nweke Christopher Chika, stated this while addressing journalists in Enugu.

He described  President Muhammadu Buhari’s  statement on the decision not to allow Nigerians residing abroad to vote in the forthcoming election as a political statement.

He said, “The President is making a mistake because these people are Nigerians and they have right to vote. In civilized countries, every citizen of a country is allowed to cast vote no matter wherever he or she is residing and that is why they have the right to vote because they are Nigerians.”

He expressed the determination of the forum to mobilize the electorate from all the nooks and crannies of the country to support the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),

Atiku Abubakar, to ensure he emerged as President in 2019.

He said, “We are doing everything possible to ensue Atiku’s victory come 2019 because he is the last hope to deliver Nigerians from abject poverty and restore our lost glory.

“We have mapped out plans as we  have started mobilizing people from different states especially at the grassroots level because they are the people who always come out and vote especially the farmers and the rural dwellers. We are not much concerned about the people residing in the city because the people in the rural areas constitute the largest population of voters. They are always eager and willing to participate and cast their vote and those people are our target and we have been visiting them to talk to them on the choice of Atiku and Obi.

“Our main concern is to sensitize and educate the grassroots electorate because they are the people that have the country at heart and not the elite that only promise and on the day of election, they will not come out to exercise their franchise,” he said.
