Sixteen ships have berthed at the Lagos ports this year, while 15 more are being expected between  January 16 and January 29, 2021.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) disclosed this in its publication, Shipping Position, at the weekend.

The maritime industry apex regulator also disclosed that the 16 ships that berthed were already discharging petroleum products and food stuff.

The NPA explained that the goods being discharged were general cargo, bulk wheat, frozen fish, butane gas, base oil, fuel, bulk fertilizer and sodium carbonate. It pointed out that four other ships had arrived the ports, waiting to berth with bulk wheat, bulk sugar and petrol, while expecting an additional 15 ships loaded with petroleum products, food items and other goods.
